2015 Burgundies are Arriving

The 2015 red & white Burgundies are starting to arrive. In general I think the reds are excellent, reminding me of 2010 with the pretty fruit core and fine length. Not as big as 2005, but I think the 2015s will not go into the dumb stage that the 2005s went through, so I prefer that. The whites have turned out better than expected, with delicate fresh floral Chardonnay flavors that will be ready to drink almost immediately. Lots of pleasure to be had here. For today, Domaine Arlaud is here. It is hard not to like these wines; they are superb. Very limited in 2015 but here is what we got:

2015 Domaine Arlaud

One of our favorite Burgundy producers, Cyprien Arlaud is the benchmark for organic and biodynamic viticulture. All of his vineyards are farmed without pesticides or herbicides and plowing is done by horse, not tractor. The wines have a suppleness that I find irresistible. He is one of the best producers in the village of Morey St. Denis, and a cool guy. I would support his work even if I did not like the wine! The ratings are from Burghound. --Divit Cardoza
