I’m not typically a fan of Argentine Malbec, finding too many of them one dimensional and over-extracted, but this one won me over. The round, ripe, beautifully floral aromas include dark berry, sweet plum and cherry, with remarkable depth, and backed by touches of leather, mocha, vanilla and spice. The palate is intense, persistent and balanced, offering bold cherry and plum flavors. Ripe tannins come through on the finish. Casa Bianchi offers several different Malbecs, some priced less, some priced more, but this one hits the sweet spot in terms of outstanding quality at a reasonable price.
