While I await my favorite Sancerre producer's rosé and blanc to show up (Vacheron), I decided to try this 2013 Sancere from Andre Neveu. This was a good decision! A richer style of Sauvignon Blanc from the fabled Monts Damnes vineyard, which is considered the best site in the entire region. This wine opened up slowly to reveal classic subtle Sauvignon Blanc fruit and a lush toasty core with excellent citrus acidity in the finish. This was a wine that got better with each sip, growing broader in the glass with hints of gooseberry and stones and a fine, rich mouth feel. Perfect with grilled shrimp.
