Typically when people are shopping the northwest wines section, they are looking for Cabs, Merlots, Syrahs or blends. But more and more, some A-typical varieties are showing up in the market and this is one you should try. Grenache can vary from light, fresh and fruity to rich, dark and jammy. This wine falls somewhere in the middle. Flavors of raspberry, black currant and Kirsch mingle with notes of spice and herbs, finishing with a silky freshness. It’s such a great value and a much needed change from the usual suspects that end up in the shopping cart.
