2012 Alexandria Nicole Gravity Merlot, $24.00

Merlots have gotten a bad rap over the last few years, but I still appreciate them, and this one from Washington is an example of how good they can be. We tried it in a line-up of six different Merlots, and though it was by no means the most expensive, it was a standout, so we decided to
stack it. And as it turns out, it got pretty good press also. Here is what the Wine Advocate says about it: "The 2012 Merlot Gravity is a sexy, supple and rounded effort that has tons of upfront
appeal. Aged 20-24 months in 70% new French oak, it possesses loads of plum, chocolate, licorice and spice-box to go with a full-bodied, layered feel on the palate." 90 to 92 points.
