Co-winemakers Amy Wesselman and David Autrey purchased the Oracle Vineyard in the autumn of 2000. The original Pinot Noir plantings from 1977 had been chopped down to make room for the previous owner's horses. After finding rows of small bushes on the property Amy and David soon realized that the root structure from the old vines had survived, and after a few years of love, the vines were producing outstanding Pinot Noir again. The 2011 Oracle vineyard Pinot Noir is a great example of the potential of those old vines. With impeccable balance between the acidity, fruit, and tannin, this wine displays very pretty Pinot fruit that is showing some delicious secondary flavors from the five years it has spent in the bottle. The wine is light bodied and finishes long with a bit of tanginess. Though it is in a wonderful place now this Pinot is going to stay there for a while. Cheers!
