The winter seasonals continue to arrive; in no particular order, the following are now available:
Rogue Santa's Private Reserve, Rogue Yellow Snow IPA, Pelican Bad Santa, Oakshire Ill-Tempered Gnome, Worthy Powder Keg, Crooked Fence Augustus Chocolate Porter, No-Li Winter Warmer, 10 Barrel Pray for Snow.
Also, Alaskan Smoked Porter 2014 has landed. It is perhaps the most-decorated beer in the world as it consistently wins two to three major medals at beer competitions each year. Based on the German Rauchbier style, Alaskan Smoked Porter demands at least three drinks before one forms an opinion. Even then, perhaps some time is needed; we've successfully cellared and tasted vintages dating back to 2000!
The smoke ebbs and flows over the years, but every vintage to date has held up beautifully. This holiday season, we will offer gift packs, which feature one bottle of '08 + one bottle of '13 + two custom snifters = the perfect way to share and enjoy.
From the cellar...
Evil Twin Naked Lunch in a Copenhagen Heavenly Resto -- pours black and opaque with some chestnut at the edges; aromas of roasty, smoky chocolate and cinnamon greet the nose; possesses a creamy and generous body, with flavors of dark roasted grains and charred alcohol; finishes surprisingly dry, as if someone waxed the inside of my mouth; good length on the finish as well, with equal parts booze/roast/leather. Overall, I find this selection finessed, complex, and satisfying, though it may be the closest thing I've had to smoking a beer/drinking a cigar???

Staying within the surprising darkness of this beermail, look for the 2014 Deschutes Abyss on shelves Friday, Nov. 21.
