The Sierra Foothills previous claim to fame was the California Gold Rush, but they now offer a new kind of treasure: fabulous vineyards with so much untapped potential. We're just beginning to understand the possibilities that the terroir of this region has to offer, and more and more wineries in California are turning to the Sierra Foothills to source fruit as prices continue to skyrocket in more traditional areas (Napa, Sonoma, etc.).

Sokol Blosser Winery has always been a favorite of ours, making delicious, affordable wines with a focus on sustainability and environmental performance. We just brought in two new wines from their Evolution series and we will be pouring the whole lineup on Saturday.

Evolution Red Blend

Evolution Big Time Red has a fresh look with a bright flavor profile and big, round taste. Nero d’avola replaces montepulciano in our 7th edition and blends with sanviovese and  syrah

Evolution White Blend

Intense tropical fruit up front with notes of lychee, melon, lemongrass, limezest and citrus followed by a crisp, clean finish.

Evolution Chardonnay

It would be hard to beat this wine at this price. Its sharp lime skin, lemon, apple and green melon flavors put the fruit front and center, with a barely perceptible touch of residual sugar. Though made entirely in stainless steel, it feels nicely rounded out, finishing with a hint of caramel.

Evolution Riesling

Like a stealthy wolf in sheep’s clothing, our riesling is slightly sweet on the outside yet packs a punch, followed a core of acidity that is so zingy and bright

Tuesday Night Flights: Split Rail Tasting

We love Split Rail. They're one of the most innovative producers in Idaho right now - utilizing techniques like cement eggs and working with grape varieties that are more obscure than most Idaho or even Northwest wines.. Plus, the warehouse space they work in Garden City is tiny considering how much awesome wine they pump out. Not to mention, they're some of the coolest folks we know. Needless to say, we're huge fans. Come hang out with us, Jed, and Casey from Split Rail and try three wines for $10 from 5-7p.
